SUMMARY QUALIFICATIONS CURRENT

SUMMARY OF THE MAIN AWARDS OF NAUTICAL TITLES IN SPAIN ACCORDING TO THE RD OF NAUTICAL TITLES APPROVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS Madrid October 10, 2014.

DEGREE EXEMPTION:

  • Motor fins a 5 metres.
  • Sail up to 6 meters.
  • Power 11.26 kw (15CV)
  • Day navigation
  • 2 miles from a port, marina or shelter.

NAVIGATION LICENSE:

  • Motor and sail fins at 6 meters.
  • Jet skis category C.
  • Power suitable for the boat according to the manufacturer.
  • Day navigation
  • 2 miles in any direction from a port, marina or shelter.
  • Training requirements: 2 hours of theory (notions of radio) and 4 hours of practice without the need for an exam.
  • Nautical schools and Sailing and Motorboating Federations.

BASIC NAVIGATION PATTERN:

  • Motor fins a 8 metres.
  • Up to 5 miles from a harbor.
  • Examinations by the Administration.
  • 8 hours of practice.
  • Radiocommunications course 4 hours (2T + 2P).
  • Basic and complementary practices and training courses may be taught by schools and federations

RECREATION BOAT PATTERN:

  • Engine and sail up to 15 meters (sailing after completing specific practices).
  • Day and night navigation.
  • 12 miles from the costa.
  • Navigation within the Balearic and Canary Islands.
  • Exams Administration
  • 16 hours of practice.
  • Short-range radio-operator course of 12 hours (4T + 8P).
  • Only Schools: Additionally, if 24 hours of practice are carried out (for at least 4 of night navigation), this qualification will enable you to navigate:
  • By motor and sail up to 24 meters (sailing after completing specific practices).
  • Between Mainland and Islands

IOT PATTERN:

  • Motor and sail up to 24 meters (sailing after completing specific practices).
  • Day and night navigation.
  • 150 miles from the costa.
  • Examinations by the Administration.
  • 48 hours of practice in navigation mode (36N + 12P).
  • Short-range radio-operator course of 12 hours (4T + 8P). This course does not need to be repeated if you have already taken it for the PER (Recreational Boating Master).
  • Schools only.

IOT CAPTAIN:

  • Motor and sail up to 24 meters (sailing after completing specific practices).
  • Day and night navigation.
  • Unlimited browsing.
  • Exams for the Admon.
  • 48 hours of practice in navigation mode (36N + 12P).
  • Short-range radio-operator course of 12 hours (4T + 8P). This course does not need to be repeated if it has already been taken previously.
  • Schools only.

OTHER SIGNIFICANT CHANGES.

  • Maintaining the renewal of the card every 10 years, upon presentation of a psychophysical examination. Every 5 years after the age of seventy.
  • Possibility for the competent Administration to carry out the practical examination if legislated to do so.
  • Practices in inland waters are allowed only for the Navigation Licence, PNB and sailing practices. Sailing practices are unique, so once completed they are valid for all titles, not just PNB. Temporary 6 months.
  • Nautical schools allow the use of semi-rigid boats only with a sailing license. For the practices of the PNB and the PER the boats must have a minimum length of six meters and 11.50 for the practices of the yacht skipper and yacht captain. They must have an AIS type B equipment with the capacity to extract and export data.
  • "Titulins" or Federative Licence, issued before the entry into force of the rule will retain their attributions and may be exchanged for the current navigation license upon renewal if they complete 4 hours of practice. However, for this the federations must send to the DGMM, within two months from the entry into force of the rule, the data register of the holders of the current title cards.
  • The block exam in yacht skipper and yacht captain will be allowed but only during 2 calls, following the one in which the yacht skipper and yacht captain exam is held
  • The Royal Decree will enter into force three months after publication in the BOE, except for: - The exemption regime that will enter into force the day after publication in the BOE - The forecasts related to the granting of sailing licenses by sailing and motorboating federations and by nautical schools, which will come into force 20 days after publication in the BOE.
